Why we cap classes at eight (and you can't pay us to go bigger)

The economics of online language teaching push hard towards big groups: one teacher, one Zoom link, hundreds of paying students. It scales beautifully. It teaches terribly.

The maths of talking time

A 60-minute class with 40 students gives each learner about 90 seconds of speaking, minus the time spent unmuting. Our average is six students, which means roughly eight minutes of live speaking per person, every session.

Speaking a language is a skill, not knowledge — and skills need repetitions.

What our exit surveys say

When students leave (about 8% don't finish), the top two reasons are "schedule got busy" and "I felt invisible". Nobody has ever left because the class was too small.

So: eight seats, hard cap. When it's full, it's full — the next cohort is never more than three weeks away.
